Bio

Born in the village of Strebuzovec, town of Vlasim, county of Tabor, Bohemia, Austrian Empire (now in the Czech Republic), the son of Vaclav and Mary (Zelenska) Hromas. Married Marie Prochaska on November 23, 1875 at Lincoln, Nebr. by a Justice of the Peace. ''''''''''''' The Brainard Clipper (Brainard, Nebr.), March 12, 1925, p. 5, col. 4 VACLAV HROMAS Vaclav Hromas passed away at his home in the south part of town on Tuesday afternoon after being confined to his bed for several weeks. He was born in Stavuzeves, Moravia in 1850 and came to America at the age of 13 years. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Prochaska and they resided for many years on a farm about four miles west of Weston. About 20 years ago they moved to Brainard where they have since resided. Mr. Hromas was a devout Christian man and a kind husband and father. He leaves to mourn his departure, his loving wife, two daughters, Mrs. Frank Soukup and Mrs. Frank Petrzilka both of Brainard, sixteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren. Two daughters, Mrs. J. A. Sypal and Mrs. Frank Hamsa, preceded their father to their eternal destination. Funeral services were held this (Thursday) morning at 10 o'clock in the Holy Trinity Catholic church, conducted by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Klein. Pallbearers were Joe Hromas, John Hromas, Frank Hamsa, Frank Soukup, J. F. Dudek and Chas. Dudek. Burial was in the Brainard Catholic cemetery.
