Bio
Mr. Floyd L. Bowman, 87, of Middletown, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of June Elizabeth Morrison Bowman, who died in 1996. Born Feb. 15, 1914, in Bedford, Pa., he was a son of the late Walter R. and Ura Frances Means Bowman. Mr. Bowman was a farmer his entire life. Surviving are three children, Wayne E. Bowman and wife Sandra of Frederick, Gale B. Peed and husband Wayne of Angier, N.C., and Fern Driscoll and husband George of Brigantine, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Marie Shankle and husband Donald, Don Bowman and wife Linda, Carl Bowman, and Sam Bowman and wife Chris, all of Frederick, Ronald Tim and wife Melissa of Bracey, Va., Sharon N. Etris and husband Lee of Kittrell, N.C., Julie Fleagle and husband Todd of Camp Hill, Pa., and Jennifer Beaver of Falls Church, Va.; 17 great-grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, Arlene Goad of Lawrenceville, N.J., Ethel Ritchey and husband Don, and Brayton Bowman, all of Everett, Pa., Phoebe Husfelt and husband Ben of Houston, and Gerald Bowman and wife Mary Lou of Perryville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Pat Bowman; and a brother-in-law, Karl Beegle. Mr. Bowman will also be remembered by his next-door neighbors, Richard and Leslie Nielson of Middletown. Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie G. Bowman; and four brothers and sisters, Kenneth Bowman, Vera Cunard, Mildred Beegle and Ronald Bowman. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21. The Rev. Edward Lilley of South End Baptist Church, Frederick, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
