Bio

Phoebe Jane Bowman Husfelt passed away on Saturday June 15, 2019, at the age of 85. Phoebe was born in Clearville, Pennsylvania on August 31, 1933. She was the ninth of ten brothers and sisters. After graduating from Everett High School in 1950, she went to Catherman's Business School in Cumberland, MD and on to work for the Atlas Powder Company in Wilmington Delaware. There she met her husband, Benjamin. They were married six months later in 1953. His job with the Dupont Company transferred them to Chicago, where their first daughter Stephanie was born. Then another transfer had them heading to Houston in 1963, where their daughter Margaret was born. They lived the rest of their lives as happy transplanted Texans. Phoebe stayed home to raise her girls until they were grown. After Ben's retirement, she went to school to become a real estate agent. She welcomed the challenge and enjoyed meeting new people. When her grandsons were born she couldn't have been happier. She loved them dearly and was very proud of them. After Ben's passing, she chose to live at The Forum at Memorial Woods, where she made many new friends. Phoebe was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin; mother, Ura Means Bowman; her father Walter P. Bowman; her brothers Floyd, Kenneth and Ronald Bowman; her sisters Vera, Mildred, Ethel and Arlene. She is survived by her brothers Brayton and Gerald; her daughter Margaret Husfelt; her daughter Stephanie Husfelt Goulas and husband Mark Goulas; and their sons Samuel Foyles Goulas and Max Husfelt Goulas. A private graveside service for the immediate family was held on June 23, 2019 at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
