Bio

PERRYSVILLE: Gerald "Gerry" Bowman entered Heaven and into the arms of his Savior on Thursday, July 18, 2024. He was 80. He was born on September 13, 1943 to parents Walter and Ura (Means) Bowman in Everett, Pennsylvania. Gerry was a graduate of Everett High School, where he competed as a very talented three-sport athlete. On July 28, 1962, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou O'Neal, and they shared almost 62 wonderful years of marriage together. Gerry worked as an Agriculture Consultant at Brookside Laboratories, and drove school bus for the Clear Fork School systems for many years until retiring in 2009. In his spare time, he took pleasure in being outside mowing his lawn, tending to his fruit orchard and vegetable garden, canning his harvest to share with others, and hunting. Being a man of Faith, he was a long-time prayer warrior at both River of Life Church in Butler and at Storyside Church for many years. But above all, Gerry cherished his family. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He modeled his life around God, his family, and his church family. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou Bowman, children Tonya (Steven) Orchard and Vince Bowman, grandchildren Brayton (Emily) Orchard, Caleb (Fon) Orchard, and Becky (Jordan) Lance, five great-grandchildren, as well as many extended family members and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Larry Lotz for his many years of respect and friendship with Gerry. In addition to his parents, Gerry is preceded in death by all ten of his siblings. The Bowman family will receive friends on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service honoring Gerry's life will begin immediately at 1 p.m. Pastor Micah Pelkey will speak. Burial will follow in Bunkerhill Cemetery.
