Obit-Gonzales Inquirer July 6, 1940 Mrs. V. Kocurek Funeral Sunday Funeral services for Mrs. Verona Kocurek, who passed away suddenly Saturday morning, will be held at 3:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Tadlock Funeral Home. Interment will be made in the City cemetery. Mrs. Kocurek died of a heart attack at 8:30 o'clock Saturday morning, as she was working in the garden. Obit-Gonzales Inquirer July 8, 1940 Mrs. Vera Kocurek Last rites conducted Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Vera Kocurek of Gonzales county, who passed away Saturday morning in the garden of her home. She suffered a heart attack at 8:30 Saturday morning as she was working in the garden, and fell dead. Short services were held from her home near Oak Forest, after which interment was made in the City cemetery, under the direction of the J. B. Tadlock Funeral home. Rev Hal C. Wings, pastor of the First Baptist church conducted the services and brought an inspiring messenger of tenderness and faith to the grieving relatives and friends who had gathered to pay their last tributes to one whom they had known and loved as a devoted mother and a faithful and sincere friend to all she knew. Many lovely floral offerings made more beautiful her last resting place where she was laid to rest beside her husband. Pall bearers were Paul Cavelier, Huey Mercer, Emil Tichavsky, Robert Bradbury, Staton Fitch and Victor Cuvelier. Mrs. Kocurek is survived by five sons, Joe, Henry, John, Ellis and Julius Kocurek, all of Gonzales, and two daughters, Miss Christine Kocurek of Gonzales and Mrs. August Sefelk of Taylor. Mrs. Kocurek, who was 72 years of age at the time of her death, was born February 2, 1868 in Moravia and came to the Untied States when she was five years of age. She had been a resident of Gonzales county for the past 40 years. (came to USA in 1872)
