Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), April 24, 1924, p. 1, col. 1 SHE WAS IN HER 85TH YEAR Mrs. Farrell Died at Her Home in Center Township April 10. Mrs. Bridget Elizabeth Farrell, a resident of Butler county for more than 40 years, died at her home in Center township on Thursday, April 10, at 11 p.m., following illness of about 2 1/2 weeks. Her death was due to influenza and advanced age. She was in her 85th year. Born in County Kilkenny, Ireland, in February 1840, she came with her parents when seven years of age. The family settled in Wisconsin and there her marriage to Thomas Farrell took place in Washington county in 1867. To them were born six children, four daughters and two sons, who with their father survive Mrs. Farrell. the children are Mrs. Edward Murphy of Greeley and Mrs. Estella Doyle, Mrs. Joseph Kovar, Miss Mayme Farrell and John and Joseph Farrell of Butler county. There are seven grandchildren. Mrs. Farrell was a faithful member of the Catholic church. Funeral services were held at St. Francis' Catholic church, Center township, at 10 a.m. Monday, April 16. Rev. Father O'Sullivan had charge of the services. Joseph B--ner [ illegible ], John Fox, Thomas Flynn, Joseph Jones, William Jones and Peter Vanderheiden were pallbearers. Burial was in St. Francis cemetery. In attendance at the funeral from elsewhere were Mrs. Farrell's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Murphy and children and Nell Bykirk from Greeley and Mrs. Katherine Farrell and Mrs. Spencer Hazard, sister-in-law and niece from St. Paul, Minn. _____ Card of Thanks - We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the kind friends who assisted us during the sickness and at time of death of our dear wife and mother, and for the spiritual and floral offerings.
