From the Allison Tribune 1984 IRVING LEERHOFF Irving George Leerhoff, 76, of 216 Fifth St., Allison, died Friday, July 13 1984, at Allen Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for five days. Irving, son of Heiko and Cassie Gerjerts Leerhoff, was born May 9, 1908, in Butler County near Allison. He received his education in the rural school near his home. As a young man he worked for Richard Williams as a farm laborer from 1926 to 1936. He was then employed by the Iowa Highway commission from 1936 until 1942. On October 1, 1938, he was united in marriage to Esther Luppen, at Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1942, they engaged in faming on a farm west of Allison. They lived there until 1960, when they moved to a place south of Clarksville. They continued farming until Esther's death in 1981, when Irving retired and became a resident of Allison. Preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant son, step-mother, he is survived by one daughter, Sandy, Mrs. Ed Rhodes of Hampton; one son, Paul Leerhoff of Clarksville; seven grandchildren; one sister, Jurene Heeren of Hamtpon; one half-sister, Donna, Mrs. Wayne Dolgner , Janesville, Wisconsin; and a half-brother, Galen Leerhoff of Placentia, California. Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday July 16, 1984, at the Unity Presbyterian Church, Clarksville with Rev. Roy Hjelmaas officiating. Marion Boyd was the organist. Congregational hymns were "In the Garden", and "What a Friend We Had in Jesus". Casketbearers were Don Heeren, Dale Heeren, Kenneth Toll, Jim Rhoades, Bud Williams, and Bob Frey. Interment followed in Allison, Iowa. Schwartz Funeral Home of Clarksville was in charge of arrangements.
