Ost Friesland, Germany 1/14/1884-8/18/1921 Geeske Fraukea Harmkelene Gerjets (Cassie's given name) - daughter of Gerhard Gerjets (later used Gerjerts) Cassie came to America at age 9 with guardian G.H. Williams; Cassie had a brother Henry. Newspaper Clipping dated August 18, 1921 DEATH OF MRS. H. H. LEERHOFF ______________ Mrs. Heiko Leerohff, one of the community's well known and most highly respected residents, passed away a the Mercy hospital in Waverly Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock her death being caused from pneumonia. Mrs. Leerhoff's illness lasted about two weeks and soon after being taken ill she was removed to the hospital. Funeral services were conducted in the family home southwest of Allison Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock being in charge of Rev. W. A. Siefkes of Butler Center and internment was made in the Allison cemetery. A choir from the Associated Churches of Allison rendered several beautiful songs at the funeral. Cassie Gerjerts was born in Germany on January 14, 1884. She came to America with her guardian, G.H. Williams and settled with this family at Roanoke, Ill and in 1903 came to Butler County, Iowa; with the John Arjes family. It was here that she became acquainted with Heiko H. Leerhoff, to who she was married on December 24, 1903. Since their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Leerhoff have been residents of the Allison Community where they have enjoyed the acquaintance and friendship of all. Besides her husband, the deceased leaves to mourn her departure three children, Jurene, Irving and Bernice, and a brother Henry Gerjerts of Miller, South Dakota. _____________________ CARD OF THANKS We desire to thank our friends and neighbors for their kindness during the illness and burial of our wife and mother.
