Vera Baxter Mrs. Vera Baxter, 88, of 235 Parkins, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday in Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home chapel with Thomas Hogland officiating. Burial was in the Brashear Cemetery. Grandsons served as pallbearers. She was bom Nov. 22. 1896, in Hopkins County, the daughter of George and Mary Elizabeth Thompson Morris. She married Frank Baxter Dec. 28, 1913, in Hopkins County. He preceded her in death in 1964. Mrs. Baxter was a member of the Southside Church of Christ and retired federal employees organization. She had resided in Sulphur Springs for the past 21 years and was a longtime resident of Brashear. Survivors include four sons, Woodrow Baxter and Elton Ray Baxter, both of Greenville, James Baxter of Carlsbad, N.M., and Max Baxter of Sulphur Springs; five daughters, Mrs. Uola Hickman of Grand Prairie, Mrs. Jewell Loafman of Kress, Mrs. Pansy Yankey of Dallas, Mrs. Pauline Barnes of Cumby and Mrs. Mary Jo Beck of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Mrs. Lela Scroggins of McKinney and Mrs. Pat Thompson of Beaumont, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
