Bio

BRASHEAR GIRL KILLED SATURDAY BY TRUCK Funeral services for Glenna Rose Baxter, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Baxter of Brashear, were conducted Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. R. E. Mason in charge. The little two-year-old girl was killed Friday afternoon while attempting to cross the highway in front of her home at Brashear. A heavily laden truck, coming over the hill Cumby-bound, struck the child, killing her instantly. The little girl's skull was crushed and the left side of her body was badly mangled by the impact of the truck. The driver of the truck, which was loaded with relief laborers returning to Cumby for the night, was unable to avoid the accident, according to reports. Mr. Baxter, Glenna Rose's father, is a rural mail carrier working out of Brashear. Glenna Rose was born September 7, 1932, in Grayson County, Texas, but had lived the majority of her life at Brashear. Survivors include her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. James F. Baxter; four sisters, Mrs. Vaulter Hickman, Jewel Panzy and Mary Jo; four brothers, Woodrow, Elton Ray, J. W. and Max; a grandfather and numerous other relatives and friends. Oh, how sad to give her up. She was a shining little jewel. Dear father, brothers and sisters, God doeth all things well. Little Glena Rose was a sweet little rosebud and God gathers all the sweet little buds. I know the home will be sad and lonely since little Glena Rose has been taken, but look to our Savior, He will give you peace and comfort, for He doeth all things well. It will be hard to go ahead with your daily work knowing that never again can you hear her little voice and her little steps. She has gone to be with Jesus, Where we all hope to be some day; She is sleeping, sweetly sleeping, In her new-made bed of clay. Won't that be a happy meeting, When we clasp her hand once more, Gathered 'round the great white throne, On that bright and happy shore.
