J. F. Baxter Succumbs Here Funeral services for James Franklin Baxter, a well-known retired rural carrier and long-time resident of the Brashear community, will be held at 2:30 p. m. Wednesday at the Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home chapel. Mr. Baxter died Monday afternoon at Memorial Hospital at the age of 72. For the past five years he had lived in Sulphur Springs. His residence was at 235 Parkins Street. He was born in Tennessee, July 24, 1891, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Baxter. Survivors include his wife, the former Vera Mae Morris; four sons, Woodrow and Elton Ray of Greenville, James William of New Mexico and Max Darrell of Sulphur Springs; five daughters, Mrs. Lola Hickman of New Mexico, Mrs. Jewell Loafman of Kress, Mrs. Pansy Yancey and Mrs. Pauline Barnes of Dallas, and Mrs. Mary Jo Beck of Sulphur Springs; two brothers, Joe Baxter of Houston, and Charles Baxter of Brashear; a sister, Lena Harrison of Brashear; 24 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted by L. I. Paul, assisted by Jamie McWilliams. Burial will be in the Brashear cemetery. Mr. Baxter was a member of the Brashear Church of Christ. Pallbearers will be Loyd Baxter, Wayne Baxter, J. D. Baxter, Gerald Baxter, Larry Baxter and Gene Baxter.
