Grounds LEONARD - Charles Leonard Grounds, 76, died about 7 a.m. Monday in a Bonham hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services for Mr. Grounds will be at 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gale Merrill officiating. Burial will be at the Grove Hill Cemetery under the direction of Taylor Funeral Home. Born May 11, 1872, Mr. Grounds was the son of Elijah and Sally Durham Grounds. He came to Texas as a child and later married Zephyr Grounds. He was a retired farmer, member of the Methodist Church and a veteran of World War I. Mr. Grounds is survived by his widower; four daughters, Mrs. Nadine Brewer of Euless, Mrs. Mada Walker of Arlington, Mrs. Euwana Goodwin of Forney and Mrs. Charlsie (Susie) Deel of Bedford; five sons. L. Z. Grounds and Harold Dean Grounds both of Arlington, Weldon Grounds of Trenton, and Glen and Willie Don Grounds both of Leonard; six sisters, Mrs. May Riggs and Mrs. Pearl McCrary both of Leonard; Mrs. Ovie Pratt and Mrs. Willie Kate Hartly both of Arlington, Mrs. Martha Skinner of Bonham and Mrs. Ione May Powell of Rapid City, S.D.; three brothers, John Grounds of Van Alystne, Marshall Grounds of Leonard. and Dewey Grounds of Arlington; 24 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Scott Jackson, Jack Savage, Pat Jones, Jerry Davis, Otto Smith and Emmitt Stanley.
