Bio

Rosenberg Herald, October 24, 1947: Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Vacek of Rosenberg were held from the Triska Funeral Home Tuesday morning, Oct. 28. Requiem high mass was said at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Rev. J.J. Tydlacka officiating, assisted by Revs. Witek, Nesvadba, and Klobouk. Interment in the Needville Catholic Cemetery, with the Triska Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Vacek was born on Sept. 8, 1863 in Moravia, Europe. When she was seven years old, she came to this country with her parents, moving to Fayette Co., Texas. In 1882, she married Alois Vacek who has preceded her in death in 1915. In 1908, they moved to Fort Bend Co., settling in what is now Fairchild, which at that time was only prairies. She was one of the first settler there. She is survived by twelve children. She had 17 children but five preceded her in death. Five sons, S.T. Vacek of Palacios, Joe B. of Needville, Vaclav of Fairchild, Jerry and Vojt of Rosenberg; seven daughters, Mrs. Emil Stavinoha of Rosenberg, Mrs. Vojt Stavinoha of Rosenberg, Mrs. Henry Chernosek of Fairchild, Mrs. Fred Zwahr of Fairchild, Mrs. Johnnie Zwahr of Fairchild, Mrs. Pete Horelica of Fairchild, and Mrs. Bill Novak of Rosenberg; 50 grandchildren; and 64 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Eddie and Louis Vacek, Steve Chernosek, Ernest Zwahr, Jerome Vacek, and Melvin Zwahr.
