Robert H. Remmerde, 88, of Sioux Center died Monday, Nov. 13, 1995 at the Sioux Center Community Hospital. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Center. The Rev. Mark De Witt officiated. Burial was in the Carmel Cemetery under the direction of the Memorial Funeral Home, Sioux Center. Robert was born Sept. 28, 1907 in rural Rock Valley, the son of Herbert and Anna (De Roos) Remmerde. He attended country school at Carmel through eighth grade. He married Gertrude Vander Schaaf Aug. 15, 1931 in Orange City. The couple farmed in rural Rock Valley, She died March 15, 1967. He married Rena Sandbulte May 6, 1968. They lived in Sioux Center and continued to farm until 1991. At that time he moved to his daughter, Annabel's home due to health reasons. Mr. Remmerde was a member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Center where he taught Sunday Schoolfor many years. He also had been a member and Sunday school teacher for many years at Carmel Reformed Church. He was involved in a dog business and enjoyed playing shuffleboard and cards. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Annabel and Harvey Bolks of Rock Valley and Dr. Ruth and Rev. Marinus Spierenberg of Teaneck. NJ.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepsons and their wives, Arend and Verna Sandbulte of Duluth, Minn., and Dr. Wilbur and Leslie Sandbulte of Issaquah, Wash.; four stepdaughters, Ardene and her husband Arnold Ver Hoef of Sioux Center, Dorthy and her husband William Baldwin of Maryville, Mo., Esther and her husband Michael Hanleon of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Rachel Eisinger of Whitefish, Mont.; 14 step-grandchildren; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, John Remmerde; and a sister, Tilda Van Berkum of Rock Valley. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, Etta, Marie, Tracy and Elizabeth. Sioux County Capital 1995-11-23.
