Bio

Cistern. - Mrs. Clem Vinklarek, passed away suddenly of a heart attack in her home Sunday evening, December 1, 1968, after she had attended church services that afternoon at five o'clock. She had reached the age of 78 years, 10 months and 25 days. Marrs Funeral Home of Smithville was in charge of arrangements. Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. rosary led by Rev. Edmund J. Bily, followed by the KJZT rosary, led by Mrs. John Otahal and Mrs. Alvin Vinklarek were recited. Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. a Requiem Mass was offered by Rev. Emil Vinklarek, celebrant, and Rev. Edmund J. Bily and Rev. Theo. Janysek, deacon and sub-deacon. Father Bily gave the eulogy. Rev. Clyde Holtman was present. Six nephews were pallbearers, Dennis Gosch and Chris Janca were servers. Interment was made in the new Catholic Cemetery. She was a faithful Catholic, a loyal member of the KJZT and Altar Society. Mrs. Vinklarek, nee Agnes Jurena, was born at Koerth, Lavaca County, Texas, January 6, 1890. She married Clem Vinklarek in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Yoakum, October 20, 1908. The couple enjoyed 60 years of happy married life. They made their home in Hochheim until 1924, when they moved to Cistern and were successfully engaged in agriculture until their retirement a few years ago. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Agnes) Matocha of Kovar, and Mrs. Julie Peters of Ganado; six sons, Alexander, Clement Jr., Adolph and Cyril Vinklarek, all of Cistern, Willie Vinklarek of Houston, and Victor Vinklarek of El Paso, Texas; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Joe Petru of Victoria and Mrs. Mary Henderson of Garland; two brothers, Frank Jurena of Victoria and Adolph Jurena of Yoakum. A son, Charlie Vinklarek died October 7, 1967 and a little daughter, Annie, preceded her death. Shiner Gazette, Shiner, Texas, Thursday, December 26, 1968
