George's father was Jan Spacek, and his step-father was George Koliba. YOAKUM, February 20 – Funeral services for George Koliba, 79, of the Hochheim community, were held at Buffington Chapel and St. Ann's Catholic Church Tuesday. Rev. Edward J. Jansky officiated and interment was in St. Ann's Cemetery. Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville directed services. Koliba was born in Czechoslovakia, came to America in 1890, and settled in Lavaca County. He died at Huth Memorial Hospital here on Saturday after several months illness. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna Koliba of Hochheim; four sons, Jim and Bill of Victoria, Joe of Port Lavaca, and Otto of Hochheim; five daughters, Mrs. Albert Krupala of Shiner, Mrs. Ben Benys and Mrs. Josephine Janota of Corpus Christi, Mrs. Julia Pizzitola of La Porte, and Mrs. G. A. (Albina) Powers of Baytown; a brother, Ludvik Koliba of Corpus Christi; 34 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Victoria Advocate, Thursday, February 21, 1957 Yoakum - Funeral services for George Koliba, age 79, of the Hochheim Community, Route 3, Gonzales, were held on Tuesday, February 19, 1957, at Yoakum, the Rev. Edward J. Jansky officiating at 9 a.m. at Buffington Chapel and reading Requiem Mass in St. Ann's Catholic Church at Hochheim at 9:30 a.m. Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville was in charge of the service. Burial was in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery at Hochheim. Rosary was recited at Buffington Chapel at 7 p.m. on Monday, after the body was brought to the chapel at 4 p.m. on Monday, with A.J. Kubena, relative of the deceased, in charge of arrangements. Born in Czechoslovakia, Mr. Koliba came to America in 1890 and settled in Lavaca County. He was married to the former Miss Anna Ermis at Shiner in 1901, the Koliba family residing for many years at their farm near the Guadalupe River and Hochheim. Following several months illness recently, Mr. Koliba passed away at Huth Memorial Hospital, Yoakum, on Saturday, February 16, 1957. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Anna Koliba of Hochheim; four sons; Jim and Bill Koliba of Victoria, Joe Koliba of Port Lavaca, and Otto Koliba of Hochheim; five daughters, Mrs. Albert Krupala of Shiner, Mrs. Ben Benys and Mrs. Josephine Janota of Cprpus Christi, and Mrs. Julia Pizzitola of La Porte, and Mrs. G.A. (Albina) Powers of Bayown; one brother, Ludvik Koliba of Corpus Christi; 34 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
