Bio

Riley Eakins was born December 26, 1885 in rural Davis County, Iowa to John R. and Ellen Klingler Eakins. He is the grandson of John E. and Nancy Albright Eakins of Lawrence County, Ohio, and nephew of William and Sarah Rose Eakins, formerly of Gallia County, Ohio. He married Mayme B. Owens on April 7, 1909 at Macon, Missouri. They raised three children in rural Davis County. He was a member of the Nazarene Church and farmed all of his life in northern Davis County. He is survived by his wife, a daughter Pearl Eakins Walker of Ottumwa, two sons, Harry Glen of Ottumwa, and William Paul of rural Davis County, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three brothers, Charles of Queen City, Mo. Ira of Scaramento, Ca. and Harry of Drakesville, Ia, two sisters, Adah Reeves of Flandreau, S.D. and Allie Shepherd of Ottumwa. He was preceeded in death by two sisters, two brothers, and one grandaughter.
