Bio

Harry "Pete" Eakins, 82, died at 12:45 a.m. November 17, 1986, at Bloomfield Care Center. He was born Feb. 25,1904, in Drakesville to John and Minerva Ellen Klingler Eakins. He farmed near Drakesville and was a member of Drakesville United Methodist Chruch. He married Lucille Rudd Aug. 25, 1925, in Ottumwa. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Margaret Turner of Carlisle; two sons, Donald and Dean of Drakesville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister Allie Shepherd of Ottumwa; and a brother, Ira of Sacramento, CA. Service was at Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield, the Rev. Dean McPherson officiating. Burial is in Drakesville Cemetery. Memorials have been established to his church or the Iowa Lung Association.
