RICHARD DUNCKLEY DEAD Call Comes Unexpectedly to Highly Respected Pioneer Citizen News of the death of Richard H. Dunckley of Williams park, which took place at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon, is the cause of general regret throughout Routt county, as he was widely known and was held in the highest respect by all. While he had been in poor health, having for some time been afflicted with Bright's disease, his condition was not considered serious and his sudden demise was a great shock to his relatives and friends. Recently, Mr. Dunckley had been suffering from what was thought to be stomach trouble, but he had not been confined to his bed. Monday morning, however, he was found unconscious and while a physician was summoned as soon as possible, it was found impossible to save his life. The cause of death is given as acute obstruction of the intestines. The funeral was held Wednesday at Hayden, and it was very largely attended, not only by the residents of the Dunckley community, but by the people of Williams fork and Hayden valley generally. The service was conducted by Rev. R. Homer Gleason, and the Bashor Mortuary had charge of the arrangements. Richard H. Dunckley was 60 years, six months, and 10 days of age and had been a resident of Routt county since 1889. He was a native of Huron county, Ontario, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Dunckley, having in early childhood migrated from Ireland to Canada, where they were married. In 1868 the family moved to Kansas where Richard and his brothers aided their father in farm work, until he came to Colorado. Mr. Dunckley is the second of a family of 11 brothers and three sisters to pass away, the only previous death having been that of Mrs. Susan Campbell, also of Dunckley, about 12 years ago. The mother died in 1892, and the father about three years ago in Steamboat Springs. Of the members of the family surviving him, eight brothers and one sister reside in Routt county, these being John, George W., Robert C., Thomas E., Edward, Mrs. Ella M. Brooks, Charles and Nelson, all of Dunckley, and Walter H. of Phippsburg. The other brothers, Rowland I. and William F. and one sister, Mrs. Anna Sershan, reside in Kansas. "Rich" Dunckley was one of the most substantial ranch men of the southwestern portion of the county and he was universally known as a leading citizen and a good neighbor.--Routt County Sentinel, Friday, June 2, 1922, Pg. 1
