Cecil S. Slater (January 9, 1926 - December 17, 2011) Cecil S. Slater, 85, passed away Saturday December 17, 2011 at Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center in Auburn, NY. Born January 9, 1926 in Roscoe, TX, he was the son of the late William Vining Boone and Hattie Lewis Slater. He was a W. W. II Navy Veteran and a retired as a self employed business owner of Cecil S. Slater, Inc., in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Cecil was made a Master Mason at Lodge #559 in Abilene, Texas January 14, 1953. Masonic graveside services will be at 1 P.M. Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Alan Kinney officiating along with Sweetwater Masonic Lodge # 571. Interment will follow after the service directed by McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater, TX. There will be a formal visitation at 10 A.M. Thursday morning at McCoy Funeral Home, 401 East Third St., Sweetwater, Texas 79556 until service time, for the family to receive friends. He survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lucille Wallace Slater, his son Westley Slater(Melanie Wiedorn) of New York City, a brother J. Wells "Doc" Slater (Evelyn) of Colorado City, TX, two grandchildren Benjamin Patrick O'Connor-Slater and Erin Zoe O'Connor-Slater and a great-grandchild Olivia Grace. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Timothy Cecil O'Connor-Slater. In lieu of flowers contributions in Cecil's memory can be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
