America Pearl Carruth married Tom Hurst in 1906. Their first four years of marriage they lived near Blanket, then relocated to Collin County where they continued farming. After a few years in Colbert Oklahoma they moved back to the Blanket area before buying the farm on Clear Creek in southern Brown County. Tom died in an auto accident when his truck plunged into the river in Brownwood. It was surmised that he may have suffered a heart attack causing him to lose control of the vehicle. In the early 50s Pearl married a man named Albert Lee, but the marriage did not last. She once described her experience with him in these words, "You can eat a peck of salt with a man before you realize he's an infidel." She sold the farm about 1957 and lived the rest of her life with her son Leon or her daughter Aline. From Whence Ye Came by Lela Grant Carruth p. 191
