William Lemuel Powell was born the son of Chester Lemuel Powell and Emma Frances Michael. They are buried in this cemetery. He was married to Lillie Belle Peyton on Jun 30, 1896 in Troy Mills, Iowa. She is buried in this cemetery. William and Lillie were parents of six sons: Raymond Leo Powell, Gerald Daniel Powell; Harry Gifford Powell; Oakley Clifford Powell; Willard Zeno Powell; Edwin Earl Powell. ~0bit~William Lenuel Powell was born the son of Chester L. and Emma Michael Powell. He was married to Lillie Belle Peyton June 29, 1896 at Troy Mills. Six children were born of this union. A farmer, he spent his entire lifetime in Linn County. He was a member of the Christian Church. Children who survive him are Gerald Daniel Powell; Harry Gifford Powell; and Edwin Earl Powell, all of Troy Mills, Raymond Leo Powell, Tacoma, Washington; Oakley Clifford Powell of Cedar Rapids; and Willard Zeno Powell, Waterloo. One sister, one brother, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive. Pallbearers at the service were Raymond L. Powell, Gerald D. Powell, Harry G. Powell, Oakley Powell, Willard Z. Powell and Edwin E. Powell. Ann Treichler and Kathleen Shaffer sang and were accompanied by Irma Chester. Interment was in the Troy Mills Cemetery.
