Katheryn Evaline Powell was born the daughter of Chester Lemuel Powell and Emma Frances Michael. They are buried in this cemetery. Katheryn was married to Albert John Iehl on March 5, 1894 in _____. He is buried in this cemetery. 1948, Mar 25 - Marion Sentinel - Obituary Mrs Katheryne Iehl, 77, died at the home of her son, Emmet Iehl in Central City on March 16. She was born Katheryn E Powell on May 5, 1870 near Coggon after which she and her parents, Chester L and Emma F Powell, moved to a farm near Egypt, Iowa. She was married to Albert J Iehl on May 3, 1894 to which union were born 3 sons, Chester L of Storm Lake; Orin R of Springville, and Emmet J of Central City, and one daughter, Laurel E Cook of Denver, CO. Her husband Albert preceded her in death. Surviving are 2 brothers, William L and James L Powell; 3 sisters, Allie McPike, Georgia Keller and Besse Potter. Two sisters, Gertrude and Jennie preceded her in death. Also surviving her are 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Mrs Iehl was a pioneer school teacher at Spring Grove, Troy Mills, Fairchild and Highland schools. She was an active church member first at the Methodist and then the Methodist Episcopal Church in Troy Mills. She was a founder and organizer of the Troy Mills Cemetery Association. Services were held March 20 at 1 pm at the Hatch-Longanecker Funeral Chapel and at 2 pm at the Methodist Church in Troy Mills. Interment was at the Troy Mills Cemetery with the Rev Clyde Scott at Walker officiating. The pallbearers were 6 nephews, Gerald, Harry, Edwin, Elzo, Wilbur and Harlan Powell. Mrs Harlan Price and Miss Helen Price sang three duets accompanied by Mrs Virgil Chester.
