Alice Beatrice Powell was born the daughter of Chester Lemuel Powell and Emma Frances Michael. They are buried in this cemetery. Alice was married to Charles Clarence McPike on January 23, 1900 in Walker, Iowa. He was the son of David Lemuel McPike buried Upper Spring Grove Cemetery and Laura Etta Barnhill buried this cemetery. Charles is also buried in this cemetery. Charles lived in Linn County, Iowa for fifty-four years when he died. He had one-half sister, Carrie McKeever. Charles and Alice were parents of one son, Charles Otis McPike buried in Santa Cruz, California. ~0bit~Alice B. McPike, a lifelong resident of the Troy Mills and Walker communities passed away at 1:30 A.M., Sunday, December 6, 1964 at her home in Walker. She was born the daughter of Chester and Emma Michael Powell on November 2, 1880 near Troy Mills, Iowa. On January 23, 1900, she was married to Charles C. McPike at Walker, Iowa. Mrs. McPike was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband and three grand-children, Charles and Gene McPike and Joan Marie Prest. Preceding her in death were a son, Charles, two brothers and five sisters. Services: 2 P.M., December 8, 1964, at the Methodist Church in Walker, Iowa. Conducted By: Rev. Clyde Scott. Music: Mrs. Virgil Chester and Mrs. Richard McMillen. Bearers: Gerald Powell, Harry Powell Jr., Edwin Powell, Harlin Powell, Elzo Powell and Wilbur Powell: Interment: Troy Mills Cemetery. ~0bit for her son, Charles Otis McPike~There is three Santa Cruz Cemeteries in California with no name for Otis so I will add his obit here until the correct cemetery is found. C. Otis McPike, 63, died May 27, 1964, at Santa Cruz, California, following a heart attack. He was born November 17, 1900, son of Mr. and Mrs Charles McPike, now of Walker. He graduated fom Walker High School in 1919 and went to California about 30 years ago. Survivors include his wife, Florence, three children by a former marriage, Wayne of Sacramento, California, Gene of Long Beach, and Mrs. JoAnn Prest of Venecia, California, four grandchildren, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McPike of Walker. Services wer held Monday, June 1 in Santa Cruz. Oakley Powell of Cedar Rapids, a nephew of the McPikes, attended the funeral.
