(John) Lyle Gaither (John) Lyle Gaither, 86, of Moweaqua died Friday, August 19, 2011 (8:15 a.m.) in Courtyard Estates of Sullivan, Illinois. Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 22, 2011 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday also in Seitz Funeral Home. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to Sanner Chapel or the American Legion. Lyle was born December 22, 1924 in Moweaqua, Illinois, the son of David A. and Allie Fay (Kemp) Gaither. He married Betty R. Bennett on April 24, 1946 in Decatur, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 20, 1999. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Lyle was a member of the First Christian Church of Moweaqua and affiliated with Sanner Chapel UMC, in rural Moweaqua. He was a member and Past Commander of Moweaqua American Legion Post #370. He retired from a life-long career in farming. He is survived by his sons Lon, and wife Sharon Gaither of Mt. Zion, Terry, and wife Mary Gaither of Bethany, sisters Darlene, and husband Floyd Jones of Decatur and Lena Tinsley of Tell City, IN; grandchildren Scott and wife Jennifer Gaither of Mt. Zion, Jason Gaither of Sullivan, Jennifer, and husband Brad Allen of Decatur, Jessika, and husband Anthony Haubner of Centerton, AR, Jarrod Gaither of Evanston, Joe, and wife Kortney Gaither of Decatur; great-grandchildren Katelyn Gaither of Steeville, IL., Austin and Mackenzie Gaither of Mt. Zion, Madisyn and Maelyn Gaither of Sullivan, Raleigh and Kendall Allen of Decatur, Rhae and Kamden Gaither of Decatur, Addison and Finnegan Haubner of Arkansas; and great-great grandchild Ava Kelly of Steelville, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers; Harry, Lawrence, Dick and Jim and sisters; Ruth, Marian and Ruby. Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua has been entrusted with care and service arrangements.
