Decatur Daily Review 10/5/1948 David A "Lon" Gaither, 62,who was injured last Thursday when run over by a tractor on his farm near Moweaqua died at 6:15 am today in St. Marys hsopital. Coroner Harold Brintlinger said that from preliminary investigation he learned that Mr.Gaither fell from the tractor and a large rear wheel passed over him. He received a badly mangled right leg, a fractured hip and suffered severe shock. An inquest time has not been set. Mr.Gaither a native of Indiana had lived many years in the MOweaqua community and his farm was eight miles northeast of Moweaqua. His wife Allie, died about three years ago. He leaves nine children,Harry, Lawrence,David Jr. James, Lyle and Darlene, all of near Moweaqua, Mrs. Marian Phillips of Dalton City and Mrs. Ruth Mclain and Mrs. Lena Bell Tinsley,both of Tovinsport, Ind. He also leaves a brother Edward and two sisters, Mrs.Catherine Carpenter and Mrs.Emma Kraft, all of Akron,Ohio. The body was taken from Morans funeral home here to the Stine Memorial home in Moweaqua where services will be at 2 pm Thursday. Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery, Moweaqua.
