The Correctionville News, 14 March 1990, page 4: Clarence B. Umhoefer, 92, of Anthon died Friday, March 9, 1990, in his home after a long illness. Services were held Monday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Anthon, with Rev. Gerald Zensen officiating. Burial was in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery, Anthon under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Mr. Umhoefer was born January 2, 1898, in Alvord, Iowa. He moved with his parents to LeMars and then to Anthon in 1910. He attended St. Joseph's School, and worked many years in the family general store. He later operated a radio repair shop and was a rural mail carrier around Anthon from 1936-1968. He coached junior league baseball in Anthon for many years and helped with high school ball. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Retired Rural Mail Carrier's Assn. Survivors include a nephew, Frank Bernard of Anthon, three nieces, Leone Bernard of Anthon, Mildred Macken of Rochester, Minnesota, and Joan Barnas of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and a number of great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded by two sisters and four brothers.
