The Anthon Herald, 26 May 1971, page 1: Roy A. Umhoefer, 67, passed away suddenly at his home in Anthon Monday evening. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. Gorge Benjamin and Rev. Thomas Munn officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Anthon, under direction of Walter Funeral Home. The son of Joseph and Minnie Liffring Umhoefer was born June 14, 1903, in Alvord, Iowa. He moved to LeMars as a small boy and came to Anthon in 1910. He was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad in the Cherokee-Sioux City areas, retiring about 1963. He is survived by a brother, Clarence "Jerry" of Anthon. He was preceded by his parents, two sisters and four brothers.
