The Anthon Herald, 17 May 1961, page 1: Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon for Miss Mary "Mayme" Umhoefer, 74, who died Friday at her home in Anthon after a long illness. Rev. A.M. Conlon officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of Walter Funeral Home. Miss Umhoefer was born March 13, 1887, at Cherokee, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Umhoefer. She moved with her family to Alvord in 1890 and to LeMars in 1907. The family came to Anthon in 1910 where she had resided since. She was employed as a stenographer in a law office in Anthon for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon. Survivors include three brothers, Clarence and Roy both of Anthon, and Joseph of Washington, D.C. Her parents, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
