Margaret Chrismer Scott was born May 17, 1906, and passed away at Yuma Life Care Center on September 3, 1996 at the age of 90 years. She was born to Jennie M. Johnston and Charles C. Chrismer, each having come to Yuma in 1886 as homesteaders. Margaret had four older brothers, Robert, Wilbur, Harold and Rex. Margaret "Chris" attended the Yuma schools, the University of Colorado for two years, joining the Chi Omega Fraternity. After receiving a teaching certificate from Greeley, Chris taught at a country school in Dubuque for one year and two years at Merino. Leslie Henry (L.H.) Scott and Margaret were married in the Chrismer home in 1933. They lived in Alberta Lea, Minnesota a short while. L.H. started a Gamble store which they owned until 1963. Jane Marie was born in 1936 and John Chrismer in 1940. John died at age 20 in 1960. Margaret belonged to PEO, the Presbyterian Church, Chi Omega fraternity, various social organizations, Grey Ladies and the Daughters of the American Revolution. L.H. preceded her in death in 1993. Janet, her husband, Jim and two daughters, Danya Kae of San Francisco, California and Dulce Scott of Denver survive Margaret as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials will go to the Presbyterian Church. Memorial service was Saturday, September 7, 1996 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Yuma with Reverend John Pehrson officiating.
