February 1, 1940 Chisago County Press Carl W Nelson Blk 2 Lot 14 grave 4 Obit indicates birth to be 1868 however stone and church records say 1867. Carl W Neson of the Shafer community passed away at his home last Sunday morning at 8:30 am having reached the age of 72, years, 4 months and 28 days. Mr Nelson had enjoyed good health until 2 years ago. His death was attributed to heart trouble and complications. Mr. Nelson was born in Sweden in 1868. He came to this country and in 1896 he was married to Jennie Marie Bronson of Warren, Minnesota. The couple made their home in different places. Mr. Nelson followed the trade of carpenter and farmer. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Roger Oseth of Erdahl, Minnesota, Ida, Ethel and Violet of Shafer, three sons, Richard of Center City, Elmer of Lindstrom, and John of Shafer, three sisters Mrs. Alma Carlson of Superior, Wisconsin, Sophie Helberg of Illinois and a sister in Sweden, two brothers Emil of Dundee, Oregon and a brother in Sweden. Funeral services were held yesterday from the Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center city with the Rev J Henry Bergren officiating. Mrs. Arthur Moquist rendered two songs. Pallbearers were Oscar Grandstrand, Morton Ford, Arthur Hawkinson, Walter Hanson and Emil Grandstrand. Interment was made u the Chisago Lake Cemetery
