Wife of James "Jim" Monroe Bateman . Annie Jane, "Mamaw", was my paternal grandmother. She was the daughter of Jacob Milton Simms and Abigail McBride Simms. She married James "Jim" Monroe Bateman, "Papaw", on June 29, 1911 in Glen Rose, TX, Somervell Co. She was a mere 4' 9" tall and a ball of fire. When it is said that dynamite comes in little packages it is describing my Mamaw. She and Papaw raised three good children, Harley (my Dad), L. F. "Ted" and Maurine "Sis". All grew up to have good families. There are eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She lived to a ripe old age of 96 years. Fiesty lady, I loved her dearly and miss her. Jean Wallace Granddaughter. Obituary: Annie Jane Bateman, 96, of Happy Haven Nursing Center died at 9 a.m. Monday at the center.
