Bio

CLARA FAYE WILLIAMS, 86, of Texas City, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas. Clara "Faye" Williams was born December 2, 1924 in Center Hill, Texas. She was a retired school teacher from the LaMarque ISD where she taught third grade at Lamar Elementary. She was a member of the La Marque Classroom Teachers Association, Texas State Teachers Association, and the National Teachers Association. Faye was an active member of Mainland Church of Christ, and Mainland Morning Quilt Guild. After her husband passed away in 1990, she found her hobby of making quilts. She made over 70 quilts, and she gave every niece and nephew a quilt. She loved the friends she made at the Quilt Guild, sharing their love of fabrics, and the closeness it brought to them. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred S. Williams, a wonderful husband, father and friend to so many teachers. Her parents, James Hardy Platt and Minnie Ola Barnes Platt from Lovelady, TX. Survivors include her sons Michael Wayne Williams and his close friend Cathy Anne Bain; Fred Stewart Williams Jr. and wife Sue; daughter Janice Elizabeth Carraway and husband Bill; brother James Platt and wife Hazel; sister Beth Sherman; grandchildren: Courtney Barrett and husband David, Tara Verm and husband Rodney, Amanda Roman and husband George, Kaylin Petras and husband Dwayne, Kassie Hajovsky and husband Clay, and Andrew Williams; great-grandchildren: Hunter Williams, Makayla Verm, Lauren Verm, and Parker Petras; numerous other relatives and friends.
