ssw Rosa Krenek
Married Rosa Stasney on October 6, 1904 in Brazos County, TX. From the Bryan (TX) Daily Eagle , Tuesday, March 2, 1954, p. 1: Lawrence Krenek, about 55, who lives about one and one-half miles south of College Station, was seriously injured at noon today when his car overturned at the intersection of Highway 6 and Kyle Street in College Station. He was diagnosed at Bryan hospital as having internal bleeding in the head and a brain concussion and was rushed by ambulance to Houston to a brain surgeon. He never regained consciousness. Krenek's car overturned seconds after colliding at the intersection with an automobile driven by Mrs. Elnora Seargeant , 501 Bolton, College Station. According to College Station City Policeman Curtis Bullock , Mrs. Seargeant was travelling east, and had stopped at the blinker to cross Highway 6. Krenek was travelling north on Highway 6. Mrs. Seargeant said that she did not see a car coming and that the other car struck the front of her car after she had already reached the other side of the highway. Bullock said that investigation bore her statement out, and that apparently Krenek's car was not on the highway when it struck the front of Mrs. Seargeant's car. Neither Mrs. Seargeant nor her five-year-old boy were injured. Bullock said apparently the impact and loose gravel on the shoulder sent Krenek's car skidding, and that the car overturned, throwing Krenek's body from the car, after hitting a culvert. The Krenek car was practically demolished. Only the front end of Mrs. Seargeant's car was damaged. From the Bryan (TX) Daily Eagle , Wednesday, March 3, 1954, p. 1: Lawrence Krenek, 72, seriously injured Tuesday noon in a car crash, is reportedly showing slight improvement. Mr. Krenek was taken to Methodist hospital in Houston soon after his car overturned at the intersection of Highway 6 South and Kyle street after colliding with a car driven by Mrs. Elnora Seargeant. Mrs. Seareant and her five-year old son were uninjured in the accident. Early this morning, Mrs. Krenek and son, Herman Krenek, who are both in Houston, telephoned for Krenek's brothers -- Will, Joe, Antone and Theodore -- to come to Houston because "he was in critical condition." Later, however, the brothers received a call that his pulse was much stronger and his general condition considered better. Krenek was diagnosed in Houston as having internal hemmorhages in the head and a brain concussion. He underwent an operation yesterday. From the Bryan (TX) Daily Eagle , Thursday, March 4, 1954, p. 1: Lawrence J. Krenek, 72, longtime Bryan area resident, became Brazos County's third traffic fatality victim of the year when he died Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock in Houston's Methodist Hospital. He had been carried to Houston Tuesday afternoon, following a noon-time automobile accident in College Station, in which he received a brain concussion. His condition had been described as "better" Wednesday morning. The Rosary for Mr. Krenek will be recited this evening at 8 o'clock in Hillier Funeral Chapel, and at 9:45 Friday morning, a short funeral service will be held at the Chapel. Requiem High Mass will be recited in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, followed by interment in the College Station City cemetery. The Rev. Tim Valenta will officiate at all service. Mr. Krenek's automobile over turned, throwing his body from the car, Tuesday at noon after colliding with a car driven by Mrs. Elnora Seargeant, 501 Bolton, College Station, at the intersection of Highway 6 and Kyle Street. College Station City Police Officer, Curtis Bullock, said that Mrs. Seargeant was traveling east across Highway 6, and Krenek was proceeding north on the highway. He said that the front of Mrs. Seargeant's car was about 30 inches from the east side of the highway, leaving the car protruding onto the highway completely blocking the north lane of traffic. Krenek's car was on the shoulder when it struck Mrs. Seargeant's car. It overturned in the loose gravel and struck a culvert. Mr. Krenek was born in Fayette County, August 31, 1882. He had resided in the Bryan area for 56 years and was engaged in the contracting and building business. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Rosalie Krenek, and one son, Herman Krenek, both of Bryan; five brothers, William H., Joe Theodore and Antone Krenek all of Bryan and John Krenek of Los Angeles, Calif. Serving as active pall bearers at funeral and committal services will be Brazos Varisco, Ed Blazek, Ira N. Kelley, W. R. Boswell, William Sikes and R. T. Rice. Honorary pallbearers will include L. E. McCall, Eugene Donaho, Walter Sayers, Fred Potter, L. M.
