Joe Frank Schwirtlich, Jr., 83, passed away May 26, 2011 at his home outside of Alice. Mr. Schwirtlich was born on June 20, 1927 in Windthorst, Texas to Joe Frank, Sr. and Otelia Wimer Schwirtlich. He was retired from Halliburton Services and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Alice, Texas. Survivors include his wife, Minnie Marie Schwirtlich; two daughters, Vicki (Roger) Cox of Ingelside, Texas and Karen (Mike) Carlile of Winnfield, Lousiana; one son, Gary Schwirtlich of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Rosina Bockholt of Brady, Texas, Rosalie Franz of Huffman, Texas, and Doris Jones of Wimberly, Texas; four brothers, Sylvester Schwirtlich of Robstown, Texas, Leo Schwirtlich of Kingsville, Texas, Edward Schwirtlich of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Leon Schwirtlich of Onalaska, Texas; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, May 29, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary being held at 7:00 p.m. at the Holmgreen Mortuary Chapel. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Violet, Texas.
