Isabella Schwirtlich Ranly, 83, a strong, loving and devoted mother and grandmother who resided at Mount Carmel Retirement Home in Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 29, 2000, in Round Rock, Texas while visiting her daughter and family. She was born February 3, 1917, in Windthorst, Texas to Joseph Frank Schwirtlich and Ottilia Wimmer Schwirtlich. She grew up in Violet, Texas and married Ivo Herman Ranly on October 22, 1940 in Violet, Texas. During their early years together, she and her husband farmed in the South Texas area. They later moved to Corpus Christi where she worked at the Nueces County Tax Office until her retirement in 1982. She was preceded in death by her husband on January 13, 1991 and a son, Maurice Ranly in 1957; her sister, Teresa Kassner Lawson; and her brothers, Isidore Schwirtlich and Raymond Schwirtlich. Mrs. Ranly was a member of St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church. She was a very devoted Catholic who provided strength, love, and inspiration to her 11 children and their families and will be greatly missed by them. Her love and keen sense of humor will be greatly missed. She is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Ann and Sidney Burkett of Port Lavaca, Carolyn and John Yarborough of Bulverde, Connie Lane of Alexandria, Virginia, Diann and Ronnie Petrus of Sinton, Margie and Bernard Najvar of Corpus Christi, Sandra and Randy Ordner of Corpus Christi; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ron Ranly of Lenore, Idaho, Rick and Vicky Ranly of Lake Corpus Christi, Larry Ranly of Alexandria, Virginia, and Dan Ranly of Bulverde; her sisters, Rosina Bockholt, Rosalie (Howard) Frantz and Doris (Johnny) Jones; her brothers, Edward (Jean) Schwirtlich, Sylvester (Kay) Schwirtlich, Leo (Dorothy) Schwirtlich, Joe (Minnie) Schwirtlich, and Leon (Martha) Schwirtlich; and numerous nieces and nephews. "Grandma Bell" will also be missed by her 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 in St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church on Violet Road with Rev. Morgan Rowsome, Pastor and Rev. Matthew Lyng as concelebrants. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery in Violet. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Corpus Christi Caller Times (Caller.com) Friday, March 3, 2000
