Bio

Victor Frank Wittman, 83, Topeka, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 13, 2006. Vic was born April 24, 1922 in Collyer, KS the son of Frank and Katherine Wittman, who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to Caroline Marie Billinger on August 16, 1944 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Peter, KS. Vic retired in 1984 from his own business, Vic Wittman Construction Company. Vic was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #534, honorary life member of the James W. Gibbons Assembly of the Fourth Degree, the German-American Club, longtime member of the Topeka Pinochle Club and the over 55 club. Survivors include his wife Caroline, his son Eugene and wife, Patricia, St. Louis, MO; daughter Vicky Jensen, Topeka, KS; daughter Theresa Dorough and husband, Rick, Topeka, KS; sister Ida Zimmerman, Topeka, KS; brother Elmer Wittman, Quinter, KS. Vic had seven grandchildren Heather Ashley and husband John, Hoyt, KS; Aimee Wittman and husband Scott Jarboe, St. Louis, MO; Ian Kleinman and wife Melissa, Denver, CO; Lucia McLaren and husband Jay, St. Paul, MN; Angie Jensen, Topeka, KS; Mavis Kleinman, Denver, CO; and Rachael Kleinman, Denver, CO. He had six-great grandchildren Austin, Ethan and Mason Ashley, Hoyt, KS; Taylor and Ryan Kleinman, Denver, CO; and Dalton Jensen, Topeka, KS. His beloved Yorkie, Benji also survives. He was preceded in death by five brothers Adolph, John, Wendelin, Robert and Louie Wittman and four sisters, Regina Kippes, Katie Graf, Adelia Rohr and Tillie Wittman. Mr. Wittman will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2006 till 9:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home where the Daughters of Isabella Little Flower Circle #503 will recite a rosary at 4:00 p.m. followed by a parish rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Council #534 rosary and James W. Gibbons Assembly of the Fourth Degree Chalice Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
