Services for Mrs. Katherine Wittman, 79, 421 Freeman, will be at 9 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. She died Tuesday morning in a Topeka hospital. She was born Oct. 22, 1883 in Victoria, Ellis County, and was a resident of Topeka since 1944. Mrs. Wittman was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Monica's Altar Society and the Third Order of St. Francis. Her husband, Frank J. Wittman, died Jan. 24, 1952. She is survived by five sons, Adolph, San Francisco; John, Sacramento, Calif.; Wendelin, 701 Medford; Elmer, Quinter; and Victor, 3512 N. Kansas; five daughters, Mrs. Regina Kippes, Route 2; Mrs. Katie Graf, San Rafael, Calif.; Miss Matilda Wittman, of the home; Mrs. Adelia Rohr, 1144 Crest Drive; and Mrs. Ida Zimmerman, 331 Gratton; 38 grandchildren, and 18? great-grandchildren. The body will lie in state in Brennan Funeral Home from 2 until 9 p.m. Thursday. Rosaries will be recited by the parish at 7 p.m., by St. Monica's Altar Society at 7:15 p.m., by Daughters of Isabella at 7:30 p.m., by Fourth Degree at 8:15 p.m. and by the Knights of Columbus No. 534 at 8:30 p.m. Topeka Daily Capital, 4/24/1963 Info provided by 47188065
