Elmer Wittman, 88, Quinter, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Gove County Medical Center, Quinter. He was born July 28, 1920, in St. Peter to Frank and Katherine (Scheck) Wittman. He married Corona Marie (Rohr) Wittman on Dec. 25, 1943, in San Francisco. She preceded him in death Sept. 10, 2007. He was a town marshal for the city of Quinter. Survivors include six sons, Gary Wittman, Arvada, Colo., Leon Wittman, Shawnee, Dennis Wittman, Cave Creek, Ariz., Randy Wittman, Quinter, Jim Wittman, Salina, and Rick Wittman, Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Ida Zimmerman, Topeka; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Park; burial in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Park. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Schmitt Funeral Home, Quinter. A vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
