Waco News Tribune August 14, 1946. CHERRY, MRS SALLIE SHELEY Mrs Sallie Shelley Cherry, 69, of Dallas, died in the home of her sister, Mrs Vic W Dyer, 2519 North Twentyfirst street, at 4:40 pm Tuesday. Mrs Dyer had come to Waco on a visit five weeks ago and became ill while here. Funeral services will be held at Wilkirson-Hatch chapel at 4:30 pm Wednesday. Rev Ernest Roper, Clay Avenue Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs Maude C Stinson of Dallas, one granddaughter, Cherry Ann Stinson of Dallas; two brothers, Thomas V Shelley of Waco, J L Shelley of Whitney, and four sisters, Mrs David Sooter of Lubbock, Mrs May Devine of Jennings, Okla; Mrs Vic W Dyer of Waco, and Mrs Gertrude Rogers of National City, Calif. Active pallbearers are Edgar Dyer, Ulman Brown, Claude Hall, Ross Dyer, Cecil Barker, and Harvey E Morrow,Jr. She was the daughter of James Madison Shelley and Eddy Iona (Ino) Burns. She married Elmer J. Cherry February 21, 1900.
