Bio

Whitney Messenger Friday, October 15, 1971 Joseph (Lit) Shelley, 89, died Sunday morning in Fort Worth. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Marshall and Marshall Chapel in Whitney, Rev. Calvin Halbert officiating. Burial was in Whitney Cemetery. Mr. Shelley was born in Arkansas, but had lived in Whitney most of his life. He had made his home in Fort Worth for the past ten years. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Sibley of Forth Worth and Mrs. Katerine Sanders of Hillsboro; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Dyer of Waco and Mrs. Girtie Rogers of Sandiego, California; five grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
