E. B. Howard, 77, of Broken Bow, formerly of Mason City, died Monday, March 28, 2011, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Howard was born Aug. 8, 1933, in Milburn to Ira and Emma (Tyson) Howard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia. Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Steve Dady of Grand Island; two sons, Punch Howard of Julesburg, Colo., and Craig Howard of Sterling, Colo.; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iris Spanel of Broken Bow and Esther Crisp of Lincoln; and a half-sister, Rosella Ramsey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Pat Howard of Phoenix; and a special companion, Bonnie Strumpler. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vic Howard and Bill Howard, two half-sisters, Ruby Reveal and Ruth Ramsey, and a grandson. He attended school around Milburn. He began ranch and farm work at an early age. On May 26, 1951, E. B. married Georgia Fisher. They made their home near Mason City where they ranched and farmed. He enjoyed camping, hunting, garage sales and loved his activities with his grandchildren.
