Bio

RoseZella Rufean Ramsey was born Oct. 3, 1921, at Milburn, one of 10 children of Emma Fern Tyson (Howard) and Ralph Skelton. She passed away at the age of 91. RoseZella met and married William H. Ramsey while working in Washington, D.C., in 1942. They moved to Wichita, Kan., where Bill was assigned to work at the Boeing airplane company during the war. Following the war, the couple moved back to Broken Bow, where Rose worked for several years for the Custer County Chief. She loved her job at the paper, and maintained a special fondness for Broken Bow throughout her life. Three sons were born to this union: Larry, Robert and Ronald. The family moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., where Bill worked on the newly constructed U.S. Air Force Academy and where Rose was employed in a procurement capacity before transferring to Peterson Air Force base. After 27 years of employment she retired and enjoyed numerous trips abroad and spending time with her two granddaughters, Sara and Tawny Ramsey, along with her two grandchildren Dustin Conlon and Gabriella Amati. Rose is also survived by sons Robert Ramsey and wife Dovie of Denver, Colo., and Ronald Ramsey and wife Debbie of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one brother, Pat Howarad of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two sisters, Esther Chrisp of Lincoln, and Iris (Howard) Spanel of Broken Bow. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Larry Ramsey; and siblings, Ruth Ramsey, Ruveal Cumpston, Ruby Hall, Bill Howard, Victor Howard and Ethan Howard.
