The Columbus Daily Telegram , February 6, 1933, p. 6, col. 3 Mrs. Michael Besch Dies – Following an illness of only 10 days' duration, Mrs. Michael Besch, 57, passed away this morning at 3:30 o'clock at the family home at 1367 Twenty-ninth avenue. Death was due to high blood pressure and heart disease. Although failing in health for the past seven years, Mrs. Besch had not been bedfast until 10 days ago, since when she had been suffering from recurrent heart attacks. She was thought to be improving, and last evening enjoyed a meal with her family. She suffered another sudden attack during the night. As Mary Homan, she was born in Iowa, November 28, 1875, a daughter of John and Mary Homan. On Feb. 13, 1899, she was united in marriage to Michael Besch at the Luxemburg settlement church east of Bellwood. They established their home in that community where they lived for four years. The next eight years were spent on a farm near Cedar Rapids, and then they moved to a farm near Fullerton. Four years ago the family moved to Columbus, where they have resided since. She is survived by her husband and four children, Mrs. Joseph Delaney, and Louis Besch, both of Fullerton, Miss Anne Besch and Miss Frances Besch, both living at home. There are also four brother and five sisters surviving, Ben and William Homan, of Bellwood, George and Pete Homan, of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. H. D. DeMuth and Mrs. Herman Severding, of David City, Mrs. Jacob Brikel, of Fullerton, Mrs. Charles Dresch, of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. John Weiss, of Boelus. The funeral services will be held here Wednesday morning, with a requiem mass at 9:30 at St. Bonaventure's church. Interment will be in the Luxemburg cemetery, east of Bellwood. Fr. Salvator, pastor, officiating at the solemn requiem high mass. The funeral cortege went from the church here to the Luxemburg cemetery, east of Bellwood, where burial was made. Fr. Salvator accompanied the funeral procession there, and officiated at the services at the grave. The pallbearers were Ben and William Homan, of David City, George Pete and John Homan, of Cedar Rapids, and Jake Birkel of Fullerton. Among the relatives and friends from out-of-town attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. John Besch and family of Sioux City, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dresch, Mrs. August Sauser, Mrs. John Heitoff, Mrs. Mary Homan and sons, John and Matt; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Homan and George Homan, all of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Birkel and sons, Jake and Carl, Mrs. Ben Messing, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Delaney and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Besch, of Fullerton; Mrs. Catherine Schmitt and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmitt of Pierce; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Homan and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Homan and family, Mrs. H. Besch Dies Mrs. Michael Besch, 57, former Fullerton resident, died Saturday morning at her home in Columbus. Death was due to high blood pressure and heart disease. Although in failing health for the past seven years, Mrs. Besch had not been bedfast until the past ten days during which she had suffered recurrent heart attacks. Mrs. Besch and her family came here from a farm near Cedar Rapids in 1911 and located on a farm near Fullerton. Later they moved into Fullerton where Mr. Besch operated a coal business. Four years ago they moved to Columbus where they have since resided. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning with a requiem mass at St. Bonaventure's Catholic church at Columbus. Interment was made in the Luxembourg cemetery east of Bellwood.
