Peoples Banner (David City, Nebr.), June 21, 1906, p. 5, col. 7 Sudden Death. Mrs. John Homan dropped dead this morning shortly after 8 o'clock on the crossing between the Central Nebraska National Bank and Schweser's store, from heart failure. Dr. Rich who was about half a block away, was called but before he could get to her she was dead. The remains were removed to Coe & Son's undertaking parlors. Mr. and Mrs. Homan live in the valley about five miles north and a mile east of David City. They started this morning to drive to Center township to visit their son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Birkel and as Mrs. Homan had not been feeling very well for a day or two they stopped here to consult a doctor. They are old and highly respected citizens of the valley. ''''''''''''''''''''' Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), June 27, 1906, p. 4, col. 3 Mrs. John Homan, who resided about six miles northeast of here fell dead on the street between Schweser's store and the Central Nebraska National bank Thursday morning about half past eight o'clock, as a result of a sudden attack of heart failure. She was about sixty years of age and had been in robust health for years. Wednesday evening she made some complaint as to not feeling well and it was decided that she and her husband should come to town the next morning and consult a physician. However, she never consulted a physician, but fell lifeless on the street on her way to his office. The Homans came to this country about twenty-five years ago and settled in the valley. Mrs. Homan leaves surviving her a husband and ten grown children to mourn her loss. Funeral services were held from the Valley Catholic church Saturday morning, Father Hoffman conducting the services. Mrs. Homan was a kind and generous woman and had hosts of friends. '''''''''''''' Peoples Banner, June 28, 1906, p. 4, col. 1 The funeral services of Mrs. John Homan, whose sudden death was announced in the Banner last week, were held Saturday last at 10 o'clock Rev. Father Hoffman conducting the services, at St. Mary's church in the valley. The funeral was one of the most largely attended, ever held in the valley. Mr. and Mrs. Homan are among the pioneer settlers and highly respected citizens of that community.
