Bio

According to family Bible records, Young F. Wright was born on the first day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty-seven(1827)in Meriwether County, Georgia. He was the son of Abraham Wright and Anna Burtz Wright. He married Sarah Elizabeth Morgan on November 10, 1846 in Randolph County, Georgia. They settled in the 33rd District of Stewart Co., Georgia where he was a successful planter. He was a man of strong mental attainments and was one of the early teachers of the county. He was also a correspondent to several newspapers, for which work he was specifically gifted. In 1861 Young Frederick Wright was called to the Confederate Service, but later was detailed to take charge of the Salt Works in Virginia. While in Virginia, one of his brothers, Abraham B. Wright, died on November 1, 1862 while serving in the Confederate Services of America. Abraham B. Wright was orginally interred within the confederate section of the Old City (Methodist) Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia. Young was called upon to arrange the disinterment of his brother from this cemetery and arrange for his return to Meriwether County, Georgia. Young paid a fee of $20.00 for the disinterment and shipping of the coffin to Grantville, Georgia and onto the family burying ground in Meriwether County. Young Frederick Wright died on June 23, 1898 in Stewart County, Georgia. He and older members of his family are buried at the Jamestown Cemetery, Chattahoochee Co., Georgia which is now located within the Fort Benning Military Base.
