Isaac Newton Wright was born November 10, 1834 in Greenville, Meriwether Co., Georgia. He was the 8th and next to youngest child of Abraham Wright and Anna Burtz Wright. Issac was a third great Grandson of Justus Joist Heydt, a early German immigrant and first settler of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. His Burtz grandfather was also a German immigrant while the Wright's are thought to be of English descent. Isaac was a very intelligent man and was often employed as a teacher in Meriwether Co, Georgia. On November 30, 1856, Isaac married Nancy Ann Alford in Meriwether Co., Georgia. Nancy was the daughter of Isham Alford and Mary M. Brown Alford. Issac enlisted as a Sargeant with C.S.A. at Chattahoochee, Georgia, 39th Alabama Regiment May 5, 1862. The 39th Alabama Regiment surrendered at Greensboro, North Carolina and Issac was discharged that same day. The war was very hard on Isaac as it was many other confederate soldiers. He returned to the Cove but never fully seemed to recover his health. In 1886 he was a Captain of the Militia for the Cove area, Meriwether Co. militia.
