MRS. HOLMES McLENDON DIES AT FORT GAINES Col. G. Y. Harrell, Miss Mary Harrell and Miss Emma Daniel attended the funeral of the former's sister-in-law, Mrs. Holmes McLendon at Ft. Gaines Sunday. She had been ill only a short time with a complication of bronchal and heart trouble. Mrs. McLendon, aged 71, is remembered in Stewart county as Miss Ada Wright, oldest living daughter of the late Fred Wright. Mrs. McLendon was a sister of the late Mrs. G. Y. Harrell, formerly Miss Birdie Wright. Mrs. Minnie Allen, of New York, is the only other living member of the family of seven sisters and several brothers. Mr. McLendon, her husband, passed away several years ago. One daughter, Mrs. Zack Arnold, of Fort Gaines, a son, DeWit McLendon, of New York, survived her. Also several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. McLendon had made her home at Fort Gaines dince her marriage a number of years ago. Published in The Stewart-Webster Journal 11 Dec 1936
