The Duncan Banner Thu Feb 03, 2011, 05:26 PM CST DUNCAN — June 12, 1926 — Jan. 31, 2011 Graveside funeral services for TD Grooms, 84, of Perkins, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Duncan Cemetery in Duncan, with the Rev. Randy Sutherland of Duncan officiating. Services will be under direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home of Guthrie. TD was born on June 12, 1926, in Duncan, to Derrel and Joanna (Hire) Grooms. He passed away Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, in Perkins. TD married Betty Clay in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an oil field pumper, retiring four years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coyle. He is survived by his daughter Kathy Haynes and husband Donnie of Stillwater; son Terry Grooms and wife Jane of Stillwater; brother Tom Grooms of Duncan; three sisters: Nellie Grooms, Patty Harris and Gloria Culp, all of Duncan; sister-in-law Linda Williams of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren: Sean Haynes of Denver, Colo., and Justin Grooms and wife Kim of Lawrence, Kan.; five step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. TD is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty in 1992, and sister Derreline Land. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
