Thomas Derrell Grooms Obituary The Banner, Duncan, Oklahoma Entered Into Eternal Rest, Wednesday, Aug 24, 1973 Grooms Rites Slated Friday Thomas Derrell Grooms, 70, 301 Cedar, died at 1 a.m. today at his home after a brief illness. Service will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday in the Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Carter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Duncan Cemetery. Grooms was born Oct., 25 1902 in Grand Saline, Tex. He had been a resident of Stephens County since 1908, coming here from Texas. He married Joanna Hire on March 13, 1920 in Wichita Falls, Tex. He was in the carpeting and upholstering business in Duncan for many years before retirement. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Leo Land, Oklahoma City, Mrs. Buddy Harris, 608 N. G, Mrs. Burl Culp, 1110 N. 4th, and Mrs. Joe Schwartz, 413 N. 1st; two sons, Tom, of Duncan Rt. 1, and T.D. of Perkins, Okla., a sister, Mrs. Lorene Grobe, Linwood, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
